My name is Megan Abrams. I have lived with a disability for 27 years. I suffered a brain stem stroke at the age of 7 caused by Protein S deficiency. I am classified as a hemiplegic, with right-sided paralysis and left-sided weakness.

I have a degree in English/Writing from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. After college, I worked for two years at a non-profit organization that provides therapeutic and recreational opportunities to children with disabilities and then began writing for the web. I have written for Suite, BellaOnline and Lifetips.com as well as several sites specializing in disability-related content. I am also the State Coordinator for the Ms. Wheelchair Pennsylvania Program, part of a national organization that strives to educate the public about disabilities.

I just celebrated my third anniversary. I live in Northwestern Pennsylvania with my husband, a chef, and our yellow Lab puppy, Denver. We just started the house-hunting process and are realizing how difficult it is to meet accessibility requirements in Small Town USA.

Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you may have as well as any ideas you may have for articles.
